NAIMA I.Q. Award

NAIMA Honors Idaho’s Hansen-Rice with Quality Award. Click here to learn more.

An Award for Best Practices

The 2005 NAIMA Insulation Quality Award was given to Gary Bray and Dan Sage of Sage & Bray Construction.  Charles Cottrell, VP Technical Services for NAIMA presented the award during the 2005 MetalCon International Conference.  The NAIMA I.Q. Award is given to the metal building contractor who utilizes best building practices and works to achieve the highest standard of energy efficiency through the use of fiber glass metal building insulation.

The I.Q. Award honors selected metal building contractors who are committed to Insulation Quality, as a key factor in best practices, and building to the highest standards of energy efficiency. Additionally, the award recognizes the builder’s I.Q. in using laminated fiber glass insulation to achieve the highest degree of construction quality while creating long-term value for the building owner. Types of Metal Building Insulation Products

NAIMA 202-96® (Rev. 2000) Fiber Glass Metal Building Insulations are blanket insulations engineered specifically for the lengths and widths needed for metal building construction. These insulations are certified by NAHB to meet the 202-96 Standard for Flexible Fiber Glass Used in Metal Buildings. They are used in the sidewalls, screw down and standing seam roofs of metal buildings.

In addition, these insulations are different than other fiber glass blanket insulations in that they are "over engineered" to withstand the rigors of facing, lamination and handling that occurs during installation. NAIMA 202-96 insulations laminated to the NIA Certified Faced Insulation Standard are certified to deliver stated R-values to the job site.

Benefits of Metal Building Insulation

NAIMA 202-96® fiber glass metal building insulation is engineered to meet the unique thermal and acoustical requirements of today's metal building designers, plus the cost control needs of building owners, and the ease-of-application needs of builders.

Controls Heat flow

Metal building insulation acts as a barrier to slow down the movement of heat, keeping it inside the building in winter and outside the building in summer. By controlling the rate of heat transfer through the building, insulation reduces energy consumption, resulting in lower fuel bills and a cleaner environment.

Prevents Condensation

Metal building insulation with a vapor retarder facing limits the passage of water vapor and prevents it from condensing within the insulation or on the interior surfaces of the building.

Controls Noise

Metal building insulation greatly reduces the level of both exterior and interior noise by preventing transmission of exterior sounds to the interior of the building and absorbing reverberating sounds within the building.

Increases Lighting Efficiency

The laminated facings on metal building insulation provide a bright, attractive wall and ceiling treatment that acts as a reflector to increase lighting efficiency.
